Anoto
technology optimizes paper-based processes by rapidly and reliably converting
handwritten
information from hard copy business forms into digital documents.
It does this using a digital pen, which as well as having a traditional
ball
point ink cartridge, has a tiny digital camera built in to capture
information as it is written on the page and to work out where it is
on the
page. Information electronically captured in this way is either stored
on
the computer or can be displayed in real time on the computer. In order
to know where the pen is - OKI colour print technology is used to
precisely print a unique pattern of dots on to printed presentation pages
and other documents. As the pen is used to write information on the
page the camera in the pen looks at the surrounding pattern of dots to
work out what page it is on and where it is on the page.
Anoto penPresenter
Anoto penPresenter is specifically designed to work with PowerPoint® presentations. The presentation is first printed out using the OKI printer which adds a layer of hardly visible tiny dots together with control toolbar to navigate through slides and to add annotation. The entire presentation can then be controlled using the pen. The pen will take users forward and backward through the slides and can even jump to specific slides just by touching the pen to paper.
More importantly -
it allows
users to annotate the presentation, adding notes and drawings in a
choice of
colours and line thicknesses and by highlighting sections of the presentation
for more impact. Bluetooth technology transfers the pens movements
to the
computer so that everything can be seen on the screen in real time. These
amendments to the slides may then be saved with the presentation eliminating
the need to
take and transcribe notes.
A really useful way to use the Anoto penPresenter is to print out blank PowerPoint slides and use them to run a meeting where the blank presentation becomes a virtual whiteboard. Notes taken during the meeting are displayed on the screen and can be saved electronically and distributed to attendees immediately the meeting ends. Up to 200 pages can be printed per presentation.

Anoto penDocuments
Anoto penDocuments works with any Windows
application from which you can print, with each
printed page having the Anoto pattern added to it in the same way as
Anoto penPresenter.
Documents printed in this way can then be annotated using the digital
pen so that
information, amendments, diagrams and even whole pages of handwritten
notes
can be captured digitally by the pen. Captured information is stored
electronically
in the memory of the pen and then automatically transferred to the computer
on
returning the pen to the docking station. Each document forms a PDF format
record which is stored on the computer with the annotations.
